Bornakk speaks on the whole esports thing
"So a while back, Tom Chilton talked about turning WoW into a ""viable Esports platform"" in an interview with Gamespy, and lots of players did not take it well. Some time later, the fire has still not died down. Darqchild of the Perenolde server posted another complaint about this the other day, expressing a belief that the creation of a 2nd rule set and the domination of the esports concept had already gone with the implementation of a Tournament server. Bornakk replied with his own defense of Blizzard and Tom Chilton over a series of posts in the thread. First, he said that the implementation of the Isle of Queldanas in 2.4 with all its PvE quests and dungeons was proof that Blizzard still considers the PvE game. On the focus on the 3v3 Arena tournament, he said that just because they're running it doesn't mean they're neglecting other things, and said that information would be put out on new PvE content when it was available. Finally, and here's the two comments where one really wishes he would have elaborated, he said both that they do take PvE and PvP into consideration when making class changes, and that Chilton's Esports comments have been widely misinterpreted. On the first comment, I have to say that 2.4's testing both supports and conflicts with this idea. In their original forms, the Life Tap nerf and the water drinking change, while obvious arena-oriented, also created incredible problems for certain classes in PvE. Likewise, the Lifebloom nerf devastated PvE-oriented Tree of Life Druids while doing little to affect Restoration druid play in the arenas at all. So from a certain point of view, it's hard to believe Bornakk's comment. From another point of view, we should remember that 2.4 was all about the progressive testing, and all of these changes were eventually either removed completely, or adjusted so that only affected Arenas.
Whether they did this because of testing results on the PTR or because of community outcry is a whole other can of worms, however, so I suppose people will believe what they want to believe on Bornakk's comments. Still, I think the biggest thing to take away from this is that once again, a blue poster is promising information on WoTLK in the near future, or at least teasing us with the prospect. Here's hoping that the rain really is coming! " "Both Duncor and John ""BigBearButt"" Patricelli were on the podcast with me last Saturday, and despite my being a bit behind (Liberty City claimed most of my time last week), the show went really well. We chatted a lot about the mounts of Warcraft, including why you can't ride most of the bug mounts outside of AQ. wowgold.fr">wow fr We talked about how to make raiding faster We hit on a number of player events, including John's post about those crazy Druids in Nagrand, and our own It Came From the Blog fun We talked about what we're looking forward to in Wrath of the Lich King (I can't wait for the five man instances) And we answered lots of emails -- a few more jokes, a little advice, some good thoughts about Trinkets (and maybe putting an extra inventory slot in there), player housing, and lots of making fun of Duncor for quitting the game. And we figured out the real pronunciation of melee -- here it is. Definitely give it a listen -- there's a lot of good stuff in there. gold wow As usual, the show is available over on WoW Radio, or in iTunes if you'd rather get it that way. And here's a special announcement: This coming week on the WoW Insider Show (which will be live on WoW Radio at 3:30pm EST on May 10th), we'll have a special Mother's Day edition of the podcast.
Not only will we have Robin Torres (who is herself a mother) on with Turpster and I, but both Amanda Dean and her mother will be live on the show as well. Moms and WoW -- next week on the WoW Insider Show. " "Thottbot and Wowhead, two of the most popular WoW database sites, have been having a few problems with ads lately. wow geld There was that brief issue with the trojan in a banner last month, and also apparently some rather irritating ads with flashing and sound have been showing up lately (and I think we can all agree that ads with sound are evil). But, like much of the Internet, these sites are kept free for us because they are ad-supported, so what can they do. Well, they've gone on advertising strike. Both sites have temporarily pulled all their advertising in protest of these types of ads. wow gold cheap And when the ads do come back, they'll be using direct ad sales only for a time, bypassing the big ad networks that were causing the problems in the first place, until the networks sort out their problems. There are two ways sites get advertising: another site emails them and asks to buy ad space (direct sales), and then they fill the rest of their space with ads from a network like Google AdSense (these are called remnant ads, since they fill the remaining space). Wowhead and Thottbot were already telling the ad networks ""don't show us these sorts of annoying ads,"" but the ad networks were doing their best to get around those restrictions. Cutting the networks out of the loop temporarily prevents them from making any money off Wowhead or Thottbot until they get their issues sorted out. wow gold buy It also prevents Wowhead and Thottbot from making any money from the ad networks, and as direct ad sales only account for a small part of the sites' revenue, this is not going to be sustainable in the long run. Basically, they're taking a hit for the users here. Wowhead spokesperson Malgayne puts it as follows: wowhunterzone ""If our users have to see ads, I want them to at least be high quality ads."" Ideally, the networks will get the message to stop putting up banners that flash, jiggle, beep, or pretend to be dialogue boxes, and everyone will get along happily again soon." .

"What's the best instance in the game?
"I would have to say Hellfire Ramparts, for the sheer change of pace you enjoy in the first Outland instance. Although I am a huge fan of the Caverns of Time instances. (Got to love being involved in the lore.) Ramps is really not that hard, it's short and drops a bunch of gear that trumps most of your pre-Outland gear. Such a nice way to get started with the expanded content. What's the number one thing Blizzard could do better. Well, I can't keep it to one, there are two in my opinion. Number one, they could revitalize the low to mid-level content. Most people agree that the game starts at 70, but what about those of us who are working to level more than one toon. I wouldn't mind seeing some upgraded content, or if not, let me start my new toons at 50. (Although I would miss the grind.) Secondly, I want more armor models, Season 4 sort of makes me frustrated. If I'm a Warlock, I want gear that really speaks for my class, not re-colored Mage gear that all clothies wear. (If you want to re-use Tier 3 gear, feel free, that stuff is 100% win.) Favorite Mount. I love the Raven Lord mount. I wish both of my Druids had one, and there is nothing cooler looking than a Tauren on that big black bird. I also love the Brewfest Ram, its cool looking and was used to deliver beer, a winning combination all the time. Favorite piece of loot. This is, and always has been, The Stoppable Force. I love my epics, my Sul'thraze the Lasher, and Dragon's Call, but nothing beats a junk mace that is, indeed, stoppable. Tell me how you feel when some random paladin shows up and stomps you with that. When I'm not playing WoW, I'm... Normally I'm just working on school stuff, trying to play catch up with all those people who didn't join the Army out of high school.
That said, I also play too much World of Warcraft and end up racing to get homework done. In the winter I snowboard, in the summer I try to get outside. This week, while I'm not playing WoW, I'll be scuba diving in Cozumel, drifting down the Santa Rosa Wall and enjoying cold beers on a warm beach. Last, but not least, I write for WoW Insider. Other games I enjoy are ... Good ol' D&D, Call of Duty 4, Orange Box, Mass Effect, Fable and soon GTA IV (should be here by the time I get home!), these are (just) a few of my favorite things. " "Twice a week, our writers will tell you more about themselves, and let you get to know them and the characters they play a little better. Click here to read more About the Bloggers. What do you do for WoW Insider. world of warcraft buy gold I don't do much blogging per se, I guess I've settled into just keeping up on my two columns; Addon Spotlight and Macro Anatomy. I am constantly looking for new ways to customize my game play, as well as creating little tools to streamline what I do in-game. Aside from that, I pipe in on random conversations once in awhile, but keep to myself for the most part. What's your main right now. gold kaufen wow Right now I'm focused on my Blood Elf Paladin, gearing up in Karazhan for PvE and the Battlegrounds and Arena for PvP gear. I'm a proud holy-specced paladin, who enjoys the tough job of keeping people alive. As my guild knows, I also have aspirations for PvE tanking and PvP retribution endeavors in the future. wow gold Ask me next week and I may say one of my numerous alts is my main, its a fluid process. For the Horde or Glory to the Alliance.
I'm for the Horde these days. My previous main was my Human Paladin (see a pattern here. buying gold world of warcraft ) on a ""Normal Server"", but I opted to reroll with a friend on PvP server as Horde. Nowadays I don't even bother playing on my old care bear server, I love the tension of knowing other players are fair game. I used to think I'd never go back to Alliance either. world of warcraft gold As it turns out, I've recently started working on some Alliance alts on a different PvP server. (I really want to pounce on someone with my Night Elf Druid.) So, as always my allegiances are not to one side or the other, but to my own preferences in any given moment. (Chaotic Neutral!.

"Actually, I've been pretty fortunate in that my main MMA coach, Jamie Varner (current WEC 155-lb. champ and UFC veteran), doesn't know about all of the video games, comic books, anime and OC remix video game music I'm into -- he makes fun of me for being small enough, as it is. Does the time you have to devote to raiding vary according to your fight and training schedule. How do you balance that. Lately, I've had to cut weight and prepare for a few fights I have coming up, which is a shame, because my guild has been progressing so well through Hyjal/Black Temple lately. Since my practice schedule conflicts with my raiding schedule, I usually wait for weekends to do Karazhan and Gruul's/Mags. I try to be a benefit to the guild, however, by farming mats for pots and making drums and throwing those in the guild bank. We're big and geared enough as a guild to create a second raid group to farm SSC/TK on off-raid nights for alts and other guildmates, and I will be running that raid, most likely. How do you keep the temptation of playing WoW from oozing over into your training time. Prioritize. You need to think about what is important and what can benefit your life further down the road. When the expansion comes out, I plan on doing what I did with the first one -- and that's cut everyone out of my life for a week until I get one of my characters to level 80.
I'm sure once I reach a higher level of competition it will demand a certain conduct and mentality from me as an athlete, but until then, nothing beats a nice day off to play WoW for 10 hours, drinking Mountain Dew and eating Panda Express. Give us a snapshot of your MMA career. wow gold I started training in high school because I wasn't good at wrestling and I wanted to impress girls on MySpace. Towards the end of my junior year in high school, my mother and I moved to Indiana from Arizona. I had no friends over summer, so I found a training camp and all I did for months was work out and play WoW, EQ2, Guild Wars and Eve. buying wow gold A promoter for a local show saw my talent and got me fighting in amateur fights that were undocumented for a small amount of cash. I racked up about eight fights when I was 17 and then moved back to Arizona to finish high school, where I trained and fought four more times at the local show out here. I've always been a wrestler/submission fighter, but ever since I've moved to a good camp, I've taken almost a year off to learn kickboxing. serveur wow I plan on seeing my career to the top of the 135-lb. division as a striker. "Don't your coaches or trainers ever tell you to lay off the video games and focus on your training?
"current weight class, pro record, plans for the future.
"I'm 135 pounds officially. I have an amateur record of 7-1 and a professional record of 3-1. I've taken nearly a year off from fighting to get better as a fighter, and I'm about to dive headfirst into a higher level of competition with more exposure. Tell us a little bit about your fighter persona, The Prince. Well, it's kind of an odd story. You see, on a distant planet, Gargon, when the king's first-born reaches the age of 18, he is to pass on his crown if it is a boy; if it's a girl, there is a long, five-tiered process where applicants must fight for the approval of the princess so she can decide who will take her hand in marriage. A brave and funny boy, PewPewlazer, overcame all of the trials and against all odds swept the princess off her feet with his witty one-liners and fantastic hair. The king, however, did not like the prince and found a loophole in this contract: the prince must present the king with a gift for the ceremony to be complete. The king decided his gift would be that the prince must conquer an alien planet by proving himself to be its strongest warrior. The planet was Earth. The prince was not able to make it to the planet whole, so he manifested his personality in the soul of a young shy video game nerd named Jerry. The Prince has taught Jerry how to talk to girls, given him the confidence to deal with crowds and how to push past the limit of exhaustion like a true warrior would. In other words, Prince PewPewLazer is the reason I am the fighter I am today. Ever done any tabletop roleplaying. Yes, I was way into D&D early into high school, but my DM and two of our party members moved away, so I was left with no one to campaign with.
I'm friends with boring, non-video-game-playing, go-out-and-drink-four-nights-in-a-row college types, so I can't convert them. I'll be picking up the ruleset Book 4 June 23, though, baby! Every time I try to bring it up to one of my teammates, they make fun of me. How long have you been playing WoW. Three weeks since it came out. I was a die-hard EverQuest player before this slew of MMOs and WoW clones came out and was hoping EQ2 would kill WoW. Once I got into the core mechanics of WoW, I threw away all of the other MMOs I had touched and dedicated six hours a day minimum to playing over a five-month period. Since then it's been pretty stable. What's your guild currently working on. Archimonde and Gurtogg. We just got Archimonde down. Has your interest in MMA influenced the games you like, the class you chose in WoW or your WoW playstyle. Do you enjoy PvP. Absolutely. Once you know the specifics about fighting mechanics that I do, you start dissect game combat and what it gets right/wrong. wow mein gold de I used to enjoy PvP, but I missed the Arena curve when I took a long WoW hiatus. Now it's just pimps with epic gear selling off spots on their Arena teams for points. I'll be hardcore into Arena come next expansion, though, because I'm a competitive PC gamer.
